Hello fdempsey
Congratulations for starting a blog. It will be an enjoyable roller coaster ride. I don't know what sort of blog you have. Edublog, Blogger or some other sort. If you tell me which sort I can point you in the direction of support.

Hi,

I'm so very new and so very inexperienced to this - but would love to set up a really cool site for my students to look at resources and help with coursework. I would like to add presentations and resources but have no idea how to go about it. I have managed to select a template and add a picture and that's about it. Where can I get an idiots guide to setting one up?

Thanks

It takes time to work out your style and what works for both you and your readers. Personally reading blogs and experience do help this process.

In terms of building an audience, while you do need to meet your own blogging needs, you also need to offer them content that interests them and is different from others - there is so many blogs out there.

Hi there Joy

Thanks for the comments. Like you I am looking for a writing style that I am comfortable with. Sometimes I imagine my reader and what words he/she may like to hear. Other times I think how personal, can personal be??? Keep up the great work won't you!

I really like this post made by Michele Martin.

http://michelemartin.typepad.com/thebambooprojectblog/2009/01/an-ideal-conference-helps-to-define-a-community.html

I particularly like the questions she has posed to encourage reflection and comments on her blog. Like you, I am going to look more closely at how other people are writing on their blogs.

I hope that this helps...
