Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic Learners in Literacy
I have just been thinking about different learning styles and how using ICT in literacy can support them. I can think of plenty of ideas for visual and auditory learners but am struggling with kinesethetic learners.
Visual Learners and ICT(some can be done without ICT but are much better when done with it)
- using images to create similes
- mind-mapping/concept-mapping
- planning structures
- combining text and images to create for purpose
- understanding new vocabulary through image searches – generalising
- animations
- highlighting and annotating texts
Auditory Learners
- sound editing
- podcasting
- radio programmes
- creating atmosphere through music - telling a story through music
- recoding thoughts and rehearsing before creating texts
- combining images/words/ sound to create texts
- chatting and networking tools
Kinesthetic Learners
- Pacing out rhythm of poem/prose listening to an experienced reader through a dictaphone/MP3 player etc
- taking cameras/dictatphones/digital video cameras out on trips/experiences
- filming when acting out processes etc to discuss back in the classroom
- recording drama and role play to discuss and analyse
- animation with clay models
But this is where I stop. Does anyone have any further ideas about engaging kinesthetic learners using ICT in literacy?
